Shipments and returns

We use Fedex services for our deliveries when possible.

SMALL ITEM DELIVERIES

Stock and shop hours permitting, all orders are normally dispatched the same day, unless advised otherwise. If an item is out of stock we will advise an approximate delivery date and notify you when it is ready for delivery.

SMALL ITEM DELIVERY CHARGES

Delivery charges on our website are calculated on a cost basis and are shown on your order prior to checkout.

For the United Kingdom (excluding Isle of Man & Isle of Wight):

  • £5.95 for orders up to £50.00
  • £8.95 for orders up to £100.00
  • £10.95 for orders up to £150.00
  • £12.95 for orders up to £200.00
  • Free Postage for orders over £200.00

Deliveries are done within 48 to 72hrs depending on the courier.

If delivery is to a non-mainland postal address (Isle of Man & Isle of Wight) or overseas, please contact us for a quotation: enquiries@millers-tale.co.uk, tel: 01334 474845, Mon - Fri 10.00-5.00. We are happy to fulfil orders from overseas; however, we do not accept any currency other than pounds sterling and on the website any other than pounds sterling, dollar and euro. The UK’s standard current rate of VAT (20 %.) will be deducted from the bill, but bear in mind you may be requested to pay duty in your own country. Please contact us for a quotation.

MILLERS LARGE FURNITURE DELIVERIES

Please contact customer services by email or call 01334 474845 for an individual quotation for postage costs for large furniture deliveries. These particular pieces will be identified with a ‘Quoted Delivery’ notification on our website stating: 'Items shown that include a Quoted Delivery logo are either heavy, oversized or of an irregular shape. These items may have an additional delivery charge associated with them.' Insurance will be included within these quotations.

LARGE FURNITURE DELIVERY TIMES

We will endeavour to deliver your furniture within the time stated upon ordering (typically 2-8 weeks) - we will, wherever possible, advise you of any anticipated additional delay when placing your order, however, failure to deliver within the estimated time cannot be considered as grounds for cancellation.

RETURNS/REFUNDS

SMALL ITEMS

We hope that you will be delighted with your order, however, if for any reason you are not completely satisfied with you purchase simply return it to us within 5 working days for a full refund or exchange - items must be unused and returned in their original packaging. We recommend that you use insured, registered delivery service and obtain proof of purchase, as we cannot accept responsibility for goods lost or damaged in transit. Unfortunately, we are unable to refund the original delivery charge or the return postage unless the item(s) are faulty, in which case we will reimburse you in full.

ANY DAMAGED ITEM(S) MUST BE REPORTED TO THE COMPANY WITHIN 24HRS OF RECEIPT OF YOUR ORDER.

THE COMPANY WILL ACCEPT NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE LOSS OF A PARCEL, UNLESS REPORTED TO THE COMPANY WITHIN 7 DAYS OF PLACEMENT OF ORDER.

DELIVERY OF FURNITURE & LARGE ITEMS

CHECKING ACCESS - MOST IMPORTANT!

Please ensure you check access for the furniture you are ordering as it is your responsibility to ascertain that access is possible. If access depends on precise dimensions, please ask for a dimension check, as all dimensions are approximate and variations may occur, particularly in our hand-carved ranges. Our delivery personnel are not obliged to take heavy items of furniture upstairs (unless previously agreed), this is entirely at their own discretion, as we have to comply with strict Health & Safety regulations and cannot risk injury to staff. If on inspection they judge that an item of furniture may not fit into or through the access space or that they may incur physical injury or risk damage to the item or your property, then we reserve the right to leave the item in a safe and convenient alternative location. If the item cannot be delivered for reasons of access we reserve the right to charge for storage and redelivery in addition to any cancellation fees (if applicable - see cancellations & refunds).

As most of our furniture is made and painted to order - we cannot offer refunds unless the piece is deemed faulty. Please note that our paint finishes can allow the character of the wood to show - for example woodgrain & knots - these are not considered as faults. Our furniture is made from solid pine, beech and selected hardwoods - exposure to heat may cause some shrinking and splitting - which we regret we cannot accept as reason for refund. However, should you require advice/aftercare for any acute problems please contact customer services.

Any damaged furniture items must be reported, in writing, to the company within 48 hours of delivery.
